I’m a fan of all different genres of music. I grew up a classically trained opera singer, with parents who had a gospel singing group. I couldn’t listen to “secular” music until I was in high school, but of course I snuck my older sister’s CDs and cassettes so I could keep up with my more homogenized classmates. Jodeci, Monica, Michael Jackson, 702, Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, I loved it all.
That insatiable desire to experience every music flavor is still with me today. My favorite band is M83, I love Jay-Z, GroupLove, Kendrick Lamar, Imagine Dragons, ZEDD, the list goes on. Imagine my musical excitement when I found this UK alternative/indie rock band, The 1975.
The 1975, which consists of lead singer Matt Healy, Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann and George Daniel have released four EPs, and their self-titled debut album released in September of last year debuted at #1 on the U.K. charts. The group sites their influences as Jodeci, Brian McKnight, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Otis Redding among many.
Take a look at their video above for, “Settle Down,” and some other hotness below.
