Remembering Trayvon Martin on His Birthday

February 5, 1995 – Unsuspecting innocence born into an already rough world. One that would judge this baby, and find him guilty of nothing more that fitting this country’s physical stereotype of danger. Just over seventeen years later, his life would be unjustly taken – without repercussion, because that happens to be the reality that our young Black men face.

We know what happened to Trayvon Martin. I won’t extemporize. I’ll just hope that because of him, the American conscious was awakened, just a bit more. I’ll just hope they see that every time we pull the “race card,” it isn’t us crying wolf. I’ll hope that we value life, and teach our sons to guard theres.

I’ll just hope it doesn’t happen again.

Happy birthday baby boy.
